During high stress or high performance driving, the engine oil can reach temperatures upwards of 230º F! This can be very dangerous to internal parts such as piston rings and cam bearings because heat can partially or completely deteriorate the oil properties. In turbo applications such as the R56, the oil gets dangerously hot and can cause damage to the engine and lower the life expectancy of the turbo itself. With the R56's aluminum block, it's important to keep the oil cool for the sake of the engine's longevity. By replacing the stock oil cooler with the unit offered in this kit, you can significantly bring down the oil temperature during hard driving to increase the life of your engine. The M7 Cooler offers much greater air flow and dynamics through the cooler providing much greater cooling capability.
